The Roots is an American hip hop band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They are famed for beginning with a jazzy, eclectic approach to hip hop which still includes live instrumentals. Their debut album was released in 1993 and they have collaborated with a wide range of artists from different genres, including Roy Ayers and Cody Chesnutt. The Roots have generated a great deal of critical acclaim and influenced numerous rap and R&B acts. On March 2, 2009, The Roots became the house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Estelle Fanta Swaray (born 18 January 1980[1][2]) commonly known as Estelle, and formerly as Est'elle, is an English R&B singer-songwriter, and producer. She won a grammy for American Boy featuring Kanye West in the catagory best rap/sung collaboration. She also has received the MOBO for 'Best Newcomer'[3] and received three consecutive 'Best Female Artist' trophies from the UK Hip-Hop Awards.
