My life, My Choice - song for mother of all rallies

This song is wayyyy rougher than we'd like, but I fear we'll never post it up as it's near impossible to get time when the kidlets are both occupied and/or boobing...But hey, it's a protest song, so I guess a fw bung notes are kinda obligatory.

In 2010, the Australian Govt plans to make homebirth with a midwife illegal. It's an absolute outrage and an attack on a basic human right; that of choosing where and how we birth our children. People say 'oh it's only 1% of women'...oh yeah? Since when has being in a minority been grounds for discrimination?

This is about the beauty of birth and the anger and sadness I feel at the prospect of not being able to legally birth in my home with a midwife.

It's got a great little hook, so we'll post the chords. Get learning and let's sing up in Canberra on September 7.

I love love LOVE this song. I always have it stuck in my head and am constantly singing it around the house. I especially love the line "The more you try to control us, the less we obey" So powerful! The opening line is also beautiful. If you ever bring it out on CD let me know- will be first in line! :)

Very beautiful. But unfortunately being in a minority has always been ground for discrimination since the begining of time. (Think homosexuals, aboriginals, gun owners for example). I just really hope we win this one though.
