why dont you want bubbles in between?

The sonar signal can't travel through air.

the air bubbles will completely block or mess with the sonar signal.

This can happen if there's an air gap or bubbles between the trans and hull.

You'll have to take the trans out and clean both surfaces well and then reinstall making sure not to get bubbles in the sealant. (don't rock it back and forth)

Make sure it's not an equipment problem, by holding the trans over the side of the kayak and checking for correct depth reading.

It's a pain, but will give you piece of mind when re-installing it! 8-)

I live in northern Idaho now (just moved from northern MN) and don't have to worry about extreme heat nearly as much as the extreme cold!

I do try to keep my kayak out of the direct sun when not in use, but there are plenty of times when it sits on top of the car for quite awhile in the sun. Just can't be helped sometime I guess!

I have a 2012 tarpon 120 and i mounted the transducer with attwood sealant and did the sponge teqniquce and on my fishfinder the depth is .9 ft even if im in the middle of the pond and the bottom is nothing but flatlines what is wrong? how can i fix it?

@rockySPS put fish oil on the bottom it protects the plastic
