Is this a dream? I was given the chance to race in the inaugural Haute Route - a seven day cyclosportive, starting in Geneva and ending in Nice, the 'capital' of the Riveria. Three hundred riders with eighty support crew, including 28 motorcyclists, took part in what will now be an annual legendary event on the European cyclosportive calendar. This was an amazing opportunity to ride fifteen of the most famous cols including Madeleine (1993m), Télégraphe (1565m), Galibier (2645m), Izoard (2361m) and many others. The total distance for the week was 730 km with the day's averages ranging from 12 km, for the Individual Time Trial, through to an epic 169 km with 4000m of climbing.
