This is a short video of me using a paracord sling to throw golf balls.
The technique I used is something between a "Figure-8" and "Comanche" style. I don't get all hung up on what exactly to call it, but it's probably closest to the style people know as "Figure-8". Anyway, I wasn't able to show the distance I was getting, but it was pretty damned good.

Lateral accuracy with this style is pretty easy since the release is done nearly overhead; the challenge is getting the release right so you don't send the ball directly into the dirt or into orbit, but toward your target instead.

  • Hi to my fellow slinging.orgers!

I have to say that although I do indeed get some good throws out of the technique demonstrated here, after watching Brian Grubbs' video demo of the Figure-8 style, I have modified my arm movement to reflect his teaching. In this video you see that I don't extend the slinging arm straight at any time. I think that doing so can enhance the power so I am working on practicing that way now.

  • cool fig.8. how far were the golf balls flying? I once slang a golf ball. I was very surprised!

  • With that technique, I can typically get a golf ball to go the full length of a soccer field, and sometimes about the length of one-and-a-half soccer fields. What's a soccer field? Is it 100 yards?

  • Thanks for saying so!
