They loved me so much they made a song about me. It's catchy too!

I was a Christian for about 16 years of my life. Then, I started to open my mind and actually read the bible form a logical perspective. I found many imperfections and discontinuities that made me lose faith.

You see nothing factual because you're too arrogant. Why don't you look at another blog and actually READ them closely. I have 5 others relating to religion alone.

And please, next time you lie about reading them, actually get the correct facts about them before judging me for wrong facts.

You'll have to be more specific, there are thousands of creation myths. One of my favourites is Mbomba, from Bakuba mythology, who felt a stomach pain and vomited out the universe.

Lots of flame throwing against something vaguely called "religion" going on here. Not enough room to adequately defend the truths of the Christian faith, but I would like to point out that what is important about the Bible is NOT the morality it teaches. What's important is that it outlines what man needs to do to avoid the eternal suffering he deserves for failing to be moral. Hint: the key isn't more morality.

So basically you're saying that you shouldn't believe in things without any evidence? ...

Fact based metaphor, but it in itself is not factual as it is not indisputably the case due to a metaphor being a figure of speech and only representative.

I'll rest my case here then, because our idea of God is vastly different and it would take too many posts to explain that God is not a person, nor an object, nor anything as easily understandable as you make it out to be.

However, do not make the mistake of believing that people with opposite viewpoints cannot be friends, for that is how wars begin. I'll leave you a final word then, and that is: I have not seen you as anything but a friend, because I have learnt a lot from this debate. Merci!

"But, the thing I was trying to put across to you is you can't have a metaphorical fact."

Ah, but you can have a factual metaphor.

Fact is the vast majority of religions and religious people out there don't like it when people display facts that otherwise prove/state that God didn't do it. Its understandable via psychology. We all want what we love to be the best, if someone proves it isn't, we can make excuses for it or even fight to prove it.

The fact is: Theists and Atheists won't be friends in the near future. So let's just stop this miff, and watch some Horrible Histories. Flame is good IMO.

We agree. The bible is metaphorical. But, the thing I was trying to put across to you is you can't have a metaphorical fact.

Galileo isn't the only person. The punishment for blasphemy in Islam is very severe. Some Islamic scientists have been stoned to death for claiming evolution is plausible - never saying it is a fact - but saying it is merely "plausible".
