And now they have widened the 401 to 6 lanes from Tilbury to Windsor and between Woodstock and Kitchener. I remember when the 401 because 4 lanes going westbound past Hwy. 25 in Milton.

@p1harw66, it showed the odd white one, which didn't come into effect until 1990.

@Newfieguy89 Yer right. Lived in London for 5 years. That stretch of highway is still known to be a real problem.

Wow. This is the first time I've seen a section of two laned 401. Can't blame the speed of construction though. London to Tilbury is a loooooong stretch of nothingness, and the two lanes were finished in 1963.

I always remember the OPP cruisers in the 1970's as being Chevrolet Biscayne 400's...a fast moving boat on wheels! This video however, was taken back in the 1960's when Ford had much of the police business at the time. It was very typical for the Ford Galaxy 500 to be used for police business at the time...another fast moving boat! Car 54, where are you?

That's the first section.

Not much has changed on this highway....that last section going into Windsor is still CRAZY!! I wont drive it unless I have to!

That is a classic! Now look at the 401 :)

I think the new OPP black and whites look great, but again the lightbar just doesn't look great. I really like the red/blue combination, yes it is quite visible during night and day and it just looks better then plain old red. When I first saw them I thought it was like the CIA or something because I hadn't seen red/blue in Toronto before.
Find it interesting looking at the vehicles the Ontario Provincial Police drove back in the 60's. They are driving 1964 Ford galaxies in this video.
