Hello again. This time with a song from the 2001 album "Diamond Gods: Interpretations of Bowie". This song was arranged and interpreted by Brix E. Smith. This lady is amazing and here is a little on her life:

"Throughout the 1980s, Brix Smith maintained one of the of the most divergent careers in pop music: she was simultaneously guitarist in the Fall, one of the most deliberately abrasive and confrontational post-punk acts, and the leader of the downright bubblegummy pop band the Adult Net, which maintained a fine line in vintage 1960s cover songs."

Boy!, do I love her voice and her interpretation of this Bowie's classic!

I hope you like it too. Sorry about the sour chords. There are four of them (if you listen closely).

Now, the gear: Lester the 2nd. Epiphone Les Paul Custom stringed with brite wires 10-46 thru an Ibanez Tube King preamp distortion thru a Boss DD-7 digital delay (reverse delay settings) thru an Electro Harmonix Hum Debugger into a Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb RI amp.

Hope you like it and check back often.

Cheers!

  • love brix and nice geetar mate :)

  • Yeah! She's a great singer and the arrangements she made to this song are awesome... It gives the song a completely different edge...

  • Damn sweet sound! I dig it man!!!

  • Thank you! I really like those reverse delays... Brixx Smith did a great job with this song... I'm just ripping it off... Thanks!

  • Yup, this is awesome... Thats not the Les that Ive seen previously is it?

  • The only thing with this guitar is that when I use some effects or my compressor (which is a Keeley C4)it over compresses and the guitar loses all articulation, but I am going to fix that: I'm getting Kashmir pickups from Stan Hinesley. You should check them out, specially the audio clip from Chet Hinesley, you will see how gorgeous those pickups sound.

  • no more guitar gear for you before you get an electric heater

  • i digg it. you should get with a band and do it live. two thumbs up

  • Nope, this is not the LP that I used in the other videos. The other one was a Gibson LP studio and this one is an Epi LP Custom. I traded my old Gibby for this one. Some may say that I am an idiot (specially one of the guys in the music store) hehe, but I dig this guitars and the way they look. It plays exactly like my old gibby. They weigh exactly the same. I had to do adjustments to this new guitar (approx 47 minutes), you know, action, truss rod and pickup adjustments.
