For those of you who assumed that ice is needed for iceskating - think again. The Japanese have invented iceless skating rinks.

  • I like below zero tempatures because i wont sweat to death

  • Where do you summer train? We use actual ice all year round... I've never heard of summer camps in Canada using this Iceless Ice during the summer.

  • What a joke. This has been available in Canada for over 10 years for summer training. Its much slower than natural ice and very e xpensive , depending on the size of the sheet.

  • OMG... that is so cool:) i would love to buy a rug of that material.. aweee sweet~

  • This would be nice for people who just skate for fun, not for a sport. for people who actually pursue the sport and need to practice real jumps and have good skates (and I'm pretty sure this plastic stuff would RUIN my expensive blades) it's definitely not a good substitute.

  • But how the heck would you do a toe jump?

  • Probably You could have an openair skating arena, somewhere in hot countries o.O

  • ...But you cannot do jumps at all on these surfaces. Surefire way to break your pick or your ankle if you do try.

  • To save money....

  • also it then shouldnt b called an ice skating then, no point AGAIN!
