Marriage provide LEGAL benefits, real tangible benefits. As well societal benefits.

And "civil unions" is segregation. What if people who wanted to marry people of a different color but they had to call it something else? "Sorry blacks, you're not equal. You can't marry. You get 'civil unions'".

No, why are they doing it? They are doing it because of their own feelings, and there for are doing it FOR their emotions, and there for themselves. If not themselves, then who are they doing it for. This is not who it is being done to, this is why it is being done.

They do not do it /for/ themselves. They do it *TO* themselves. *Big* difference.

You know, you really are showing *a lot* of ignorance of the state of mind that produces suicidal ideation.

That still wouldn't change the fact that it is being done for the self, with no caring for its effects on others, and what do you mean that there are those who don't know that it would cause emotional damage to others. They know, they just choose to think, oh well no one loves me. When that is never true.

The problem with that statement is "having full knowledge". Someone can be in a place where that is not the case. Thus, "is" is not the proper word to use in-between "suicide" and "selfish".

Suicide is selfish, as it is done for one's self, and it is done with the person having full knowledge that it will hurt those around them.

Those that think that suicide is selfish have clearly never been in a place where suicide "became an option." (note the quotes)

@ DPR: Check out the story of Janice Langbehn and Lisa Pond! partners for 18 years! While on holiday in florida, janice had a brain anurism and was rushed to hospital. The nurses refused information and visitation rights and blocked Lisa acces to the room because their union was not recognised in the state of florida. They were not "real" family members. Unfortunately, Janice died in hospital, alone, while Lisa faught outside with lawyers and hospital administration....So sad!!!

Which, of course, the parents of the people "protecting marriage" today were trying to do in the '60s, especially with blacks marrying whites. They basically said to blacks, "You can marry any black person you want." Now, they're saying to gays, "You can marry anyone of the opposite sex you want." We made "separate but equal" unconstitutional in the '60s, and this doesn't even qualify as equal because "civil unions" don't give the same legal benefits as marriage.

Re: the being by the bedside in hospital, if the family of the person in hospital disapproves of the homosexual relationship, their wishes about who can and can't visit the person trumps the partner's. This leads to situations where the family can ban the partner from visitingmthe ailing person.

The problem is these religious fucks and politicians who want to keep you alive in pain because they are uncaring fucks that want to force people to their will. Sorry to hear about your problems, the world would definitely be better if politicians all committed mass suicide.

We are all slaves in this country
