It was the prefered beverage among Colonist, but today hard cider isn't easy to come by. A local vintage apple grower in Virginia is hoping to change that. Sherri McKinney has the report. For more go to www.vafb.com or www.saveourfood.org.
I agree! But all is not lost. It has to be the people of our generation to get the cider culture back on track. Heck, even wild apple trees growing by the roadside often produce fruit with cider qualities: they're hard and crisp and full of tannin. People are so dependent on the commercial world that they forget to notice the gems in their midst. Hard dry sparkling cider is a wonderful drink and is easy to make. Spread the word!
It,s such a shame that cider drinking died out in the usa, it,s such a superior drink to beer.If you,re ever in the u.k head down to the west country and try some of our traditional "rough" cider and you,ll see exactly what i mean! just a word of caution though, it is rather strong... ;-)
