A magnitude 5.7 earthquake erupted five miles east-southeast of the desert town of Ocotillo at 9:26 p.m. Monday, causing sharp shaking throughout San Diego County and beyond, the U.S. Geological Survey says. The quake, an aftershock to the 7.2 Easter Sunday quake near Mexicali, briefly caused a delay in the game between the San Diego Padres and Toronto Blue Jays at Petco Park in downtown San Diego.
There were no immediate reports of major damage from the shaker, which was felt as far north as Carpenteria and as far south as Ensenada. But the quake continues a vigorous aftershock sequence that's now more than two months old, making some people a bit jittery.
