Mexican Navy officials, along with local marine mammal experts, teamed up to free a Humpback whale from a life-threatening entanglement Friday. Members of the Mexican Navy (SEMAR), Vallarta Adventures and Instituto Technológico del Mar (ITMAR) collaborated and successfully unraveled a life-threatening fishing line from the whale, which was located in the North of Bay of Banderas, near Destiladeras beach.

  • You can see our tour boat in the background as the panga is heading out of the marina (leaving our boat) & about 1/3 of the way through looking into the sun. We were watching from there. I sent this to all our friends who were with us that day so they know everything turned out fine. Gracias a todo ayudando... we will be back down next month!

  • This is the day we took the tour & our panga from the Vallartatours boat went out to help. There was more than the one whale.... I'm so glad to know the outcome was positive! We were worried when they told us on the tour boat.
