I think what the wife was referring to was that Ray Martin was Kerry Packer's bitch, his sock puppet pretty much. Kerry Packer paid him with gold logies. As soon as the old rich bastard died Ray Martin has become irrelevant. Sadly the same can be said about John Safran, the dude is no longer funny

Oh, come on... I think Ray Martin needs to settle down. Saffran was poking fun, and the nature of the 'segment' was humorous.
I think Ray needs to lighten up a bit and not take himself so seriously.
I'm actually really astonished that Ray and his wife were so physical with John Saffran.
The Chasers did a lot of things similar to this, and the journalists and politicians they targeted were, for the most part much better sports than Ray.

It was a very weak attempt at comedy. He failed to draw the link between the ideas (which was needed). If I was Martin I would have just sat him on his arse and paid the fine.
