Hello!
Finally I did all recordings to that track.
Everything was done using only Zoom R8, no computer. All effects, mastering e.t.c.
Bass and acoustics are done with Aco/Bass Sim in Zoom R8.
Drums are from some loops bank (2 2-bars loops), tambourine also, time stretched to meet track's tempo.

  • Igor, great tune. Love the tubey guitar solo. You have chops! :) Hey, I've been looking thru the manual; no luck - can you record 2 mono tracks at one time? Example: I want to double trk my bass, 1 direct/2 mic'd, but not to stereo, to 2 mono trks that I can blend. Is it possible on the r8? If so, where is that info? I'm going to keep searching for an answer, but thought you may know. Thanks!

  • @mattyb3671 Hi Mat,

Yes you can do 2 mono recordings. Plug bass to Input 1, set input selector to HiZ, arm track 1. Plug Mic to Input 2, selector to Mic, arm track 2. Thats it. Direct signal will be on track 1, Mic - track 2. Its very straightforward.

  • Sounds like Little Feat!

  • @jman8964 sorry - LIttle who?

  • @jman8964 aah

    googled it, thanx ))

  • I dig this. I just purchased the R8 a couple of hours ago. I am clueless to this whole recording thing. What kind of mic would you recommend if I just want to record acoustic music?

  • @haneoblu hi!

I think you can easily start with R8 onboard mics - they are quite good condenser mics and you will get good clear stereo picture.

For more precise recordings I'd advice you some of numerous industry-standard instrumental mics like Shure SM57 (try to google them). It really depends on what instrument you'll record.

But good combination will be recording 2 mics simultaneously - 1 instrumental to catch instrument + 1 condenser (like in R8) to catch room

  • @bobritsky thanx dude! i found it on p25 in the manual; just took me & my great brain a few reads to accept the info. rock on! :D

  • @KDMandu hi Ken and thx for feedback!

I use R8 as my main audio interface and thats why I've sold my Focusrite Saffire 6 USB.

Mostly I record electric guitar and bass directly to R8 and use its internal effects for making up sound. Talking bout preamps - they are great to my taste. Check specs from Zoom site and compare to some industry-standard unit like M-Audio etc. I suppose there will no big difference. Talking about effects - I really dig R8 internal effects! ampsims are good,efx-2

  • Hi Igor, from nowhere southern Indiana, USA. First, EXCELLENT playing in a number of styles; ya got chops! Also, got a great singer in your band (I Wish-S. Wonder). I have been looking at getting back into some recording on my new (used) iMac and am interested in the R8 as an audio interface and daw controller. For me, the portable full blown recorder would be just a nice addition. I can't find any real discussions of the preamp quality for DAW input anywhere. Any thoughts? Thanks, Ken
