Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have recalled their ambassadors from Qatar.
In a joint statement, the three Arab countries said the decision was in response to Doha's interference in their internal affairs. Saudi media say the move follows a stormy meeting of the foreign ministers of the six-nation Persian Gulf Cooperation Council in Riyadh on Tuesday. The recall of ambassadors is unprecedented in the three-decade history of the GCC. The group is an alliance of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE and Oman.
