Performance by: Frank Landes, Valentin Altorfer & Marina Belobrovaja
All the equipment in the provided space is designed as an authentic reproduction of a party setting. Basic elements such as hi-fi system, mirror ball, lighting, and bar reflect a common atmosphere. Only at second glance does the power source that actuates the entire machinery become apparent. All the facilities are run manually, through ongoing activity of human energy.
In a newspaper ad, temporary job seekers are asked to appear during the event at the location. The employment contract is signed in an employment agency, which is set up in the same space and a stopwatch is winded up and allocated to the working station. The employees are paid with a low hourly rate. On the job they are being supplied with water and perspiration cloths.
The segmentation of the setting in singular mechanisms that function only by human power denaturalizes the "natural" consumption of the visitors. The almost caricature-like discrepancy between the looseness the nightly leasure and the disproportionate physical investment of the employees provokes a reflection among the visitors about the economical, social, and ecological implicitness of todays society which is less and less questioned.
