DN3D had joystick support, didn't it? You might be able to use the accelerometers as joystick (i saw somwhere someone found a way to do that i don't remember where, shouldn't be hard to find though)

You can map any buttons you want to movement.
I only used the WASD buttons for movement since I'm right handed and wanted my right hand free to operate the Stylus for the true "mouse look" experience.

have you figure out how to switch weapons? lol i just put the game on my n900 as well

You can map any game functions to any key you want so switching weapons is easy. You can even set the "K" button to Kick to really dole out the punishment.
