The next stage of farming; a sequel to my previous video.

This method requires a bit more HP. I have a maxed ultimate weapon on Fang for the stats, but it's not necessary at all. This is doable with maxed Tier 2 weapons, but you need at least ~2400 Strength to be able to Highwind a leg right after stagger.

If you're having trouble getting Fang's Strength high enough to Highwind the legs quickly post-stagger, you may want to consult my Stage 2.5 video instead:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EGqY6hwS94

Having more ultimate weapons only speeds this up because your party synchronization in taking out the legs will be much better.

You'll want to take out both legs before the fourth stomp. If you don't, you may mess up the timing with Highwind on the right leg, or in the worst case, you might actually die (not really an issue with a bit more HP).

In this video, he got off the fourth stomp after I dropped the second leg, a case of one of those weird ATB hitches where he gets a move off even after you take out both legs. I wouldn't have been in the red if that hadn't happened. Again, with a bit more HP, this won't be a problem at all.

My best battle time at these stats was 1 min 28 sec. It depends largely on how you coordinate Vanille and Snow in staggering the legs.

This strategy should suffice for pretty much as long as you need to farm. There are better optimization techniques once you are completely maxed (namely using Lightning instead of Vanille), but they're not really necessary.

  • These videos are changing my life, man - at least as far as FFXIII is concerned. I have a question for you though. Why stagger both the legs, then Highwind both the legs, rather than each leg one at a time? As you mention in the FAQ, it makes the Highwind timing for the second leg tricky, and it just makes me nervous to see the stagger gauges dwindle almost to empty for the Highwind. You are clearly brilliant, and I'm sure you have your reasons, but I just wanted to know what they were.

  • @phaatman It's just much faster to down both legs at once. With some practice, it's not as hard as it looks.

  • Great video guide. One question, though: At what point can you swap out Vanille for Lightning? My Lightning has maxed Com, Rav, Sen, and Med, and is halfway through Sab. I assume you can swap as soon as Lightning gets Imperil?

  • @DeathByGuro Actually, it is mostly a matter of HP. Lightning needs Deprotect/Deshell/Imperil, yes, but the key is for everyone to have enough HP to make up for the weakened healing that Lightning brings to the table. It's the sacrifice you make for better offense.

  • This is absolutely the best method to steamroll. I have it down to about 2 minute and 30 second runs. I noticed on your faq that you talk about fighting the soldiers, which insinuates you run to the door to respawn the adamantoise. It's much faster to save, quit, and reload. I generate about 2M CP per hour, and average about 70% drop rate on platinum ingots with 3 stacked collectors catalogues.

  • @depietro Fighting the soldiers is only for TP recharging when you use a summon.

  • @depietro WHAT?!?!?!? IT STACKS ?!?!?!?!?!

  • good, 01:37 this is a very good time, i dont have a camera do rec my game, but i done the adamantoise in 01:27 without summon, shrouds and DEATH, my strategy is similar ^^ good jog (Y)

  • Would these methods be effective against long guis? I've seen your Shaolong Gui guide. Just thought I'd ask.

  • I'll get cracking at it right away. I'll do 25 kills and write down the results each time !!

  • @LPN00b Honestly i'm still a bit puzzled by the algorithm used, but empirically the drop rate I've observed is extremely high using this method. There could be so many unknowns involved maybe I hit just the right combination of factors? Let me know what you observe

  • @depietro I meant nothing by it, but 70% that's pretty awesome droprate! How does it get so high, what's the math behind it? I thought it was like 5,5%? (from what i've read)

  • @LPN00b Evidently I was wrong about stacking collectors catalogues, you only need one. But the method still holds

  • @depietro how do collectors catalogues stack?

  • This is awesome, I used to do 1 leg, then Highwind and then the other leg... this is much faster cause it's less paradigm shifting. (Btw, I replaced Snow with Lightning and went double Commando to kill him off, works equally well)

  • Daaaamn and I thought I was fast killing 'em in like five minutes.

Before I got the genji glove, I spent like 5+ hours farming those things at 10-15 minutes per kill wish I got the genji glove sooner ><
