Continued: A buddy of mine is actually in Afghanistan (infantry) and he told me that the situation is extremely fragile. Most parts of the country look like hell, and it's under constant threat from warlords. That being the case, we're always going to have some sort of ground force in and around these countries. More so in Iraq given the high value of the oil.
@lwmisner3 First, I want to say that I like your t-shirt! That said, I agree with you in regards to pulling the troops out of both Afghanistan and Iraq. Unfortunately it's not an overnight process. The logistics and more importantly the politics of it are overwhelming. Despite the good we've done in these countries, we've also wreaked quite a bit of havoc. There are whole towns and cities under rubble that we have to help rebuild. We also have to provide some level of security for the people.
