Another phase of war heroes welfare programme in Nuwara Eliya district 13th June 2009

Another phase of the programme to improve welfare of the war heroes and settle their problems by reaching them in their own areas was held in the Nuwara Eliva district.
This programme is being implemented under a concept of Defence Secretary Gothabaya Rajapaksa. The Defence Secretary has taken initiative to settle issues related to the families of war heroes in many districts. The programme of the Nuwara Eliya district was held in the camp premises of the 3rd Singha Regiment. The Defence Secretary and the team of officials took action to solve the problems related to 128 families of war heroes. President of the Seva Vanitha Unit of the Defence Ministry Ayoma Rajapaksa, Chairman of the Ranaviru Seva Authority Major Gen. Palitha Fernando. Additional Secretary to the Ministry Udeni Wickremesinghe and a large number of other officials participated. Speaking at the occasion the Defence Secretary said that everybody including the President is holding the sacrifices of the war heroes in high esteem. We have a free and a united country due to their sacrifices. People have re-discovered the patriotism that was lost. They know that the loss of the families cannot be fulfilled. But it is the duty of the government to appreciate the sacrifices made. He said that the country would never forget the war heroes who made the supreme sacrifice.
