On Monday 28 June, University of Manchester Physicist Professor Brian Cox delivered the first lecture aimed at GCSE/Key stage 4 science pupils. The lecture was also broadcast live via the University website http://www.manchester.ac.uk/starlectures . Professor Cox discussed the Big Bang, the origins of the universe and the importance of science to our modern civilisation.
Part 1 of 5.
The Star Lecture series has been developed by the University to allow teachers and pupils access to exciting curriculum resources delivered by some of our leading academic staff. Filmed and recorded at the University, these lectures will cover topic areas on the national curriculum and exam syllabuses, link students' studies to current research and offer an insight into university study.

He's as pretty as Steve Tyler with a level of intelligence to rival Stephen Hawkings... Try using quantum mechanics to explain that!

If only my science teachers were as as easy to relate to and understand as professor cox is, i'd have no need to be watching these lectures now .I'm sure i still would though .

If i'd had a teacher like Brian Cox at that age I would have jumped head 1st into scientific research and would probably be living a happy, important, worthwile life!
As it was, my science teachers were miserable men who didn't really like kids and shut you in the cupboard if you asked too many questions.
Long live prof cox!

Love him!!! he is so incredible. I am doing my gsces and this makes everything so accessible and easy to understand while still discussing the subjects of 'The Great Unknown'! Now i finally know it :D
