omg those pups are sooooo adorable. I love Labs! I hope to breed labs when i grow up. correct me if im wrong, but i read in a book that, Yellow labs mostly only have yellow pups.
Chocolate Labs have chocolate and yellow, and Black labs can have all three.
what color was the mother?
:)

Black is the dominant colour in labs and chocolate is recessive (both parents to carry gene for it to show). Yellow appears when another gene tells the colour gene to "hide". 2 Yellows will only produce yellows. The mother was black carrying chocolate & yellow and the father was yellow and the pups were black and yellow. If any parent passes on the black gene then pup will be black so yes, a choc to choc mating can produce choc and yellow but a choc to black can produce black.

Thank you for these lovely videos. Was that a vet or some kind of vet midwife who helped the mother birth her children? She did such a good job.

she whelped all of the pups at home with no assistance from a vet - just Sarnia doing all the work and me offering support!!!
