Music is like mankind, it evolves. It shows in dubstep significantly and to the extent that EVERYBODY thinks that the simple kick on 1st and snare on 3rd pattern is dubstep. But in ways yes this is 2-step because dubstep came from dub AND 2-step hence "dub-step" stylized as "dubstep". The crossover between Jamaican dub music and 2-step garage music makes it unique and a genre of it's own.

@Dekkenstein horsepower, and this release specifically, was where the line started to blur. You have 2step productions by dubstep artists - pangaea's Memories, Burial, etc. - and dubstep productions by 2step artists - the most recent Horsepower bidness - so it can be hard to draw a line.

I used to play HP and Tempa way back when two step was fading out. Everyone hated that shit so I stopped playing it out. Then years go by and kids are all like dubstep dubstep and I hear it and I'm like that's more like grime isn't it, wheres the dub? kids are like WTF is grime? WTF is dub? hahah.
