On Friday nights, in beautiful, Lincoln, Maine (which I think has 13 lakes), 45 miles south of where I live, local musicians gather before family and friends to present their good music.

Last night, I had the pleasure of listening to Mary Weatherbee and The Company She Keeps.

From my understanding, this is not a regular band, but some friends of hers, returning to Lincoln on a holiday, who put on a show for us. Their former music teachers sat in the audience, took notes, and gave them a good grade....LOL

I think the jazz sax player, Matt Morin, who reminded me of a young, Clarence Clemens, had three days to learn the music. His usual routine, according to his father, is finishing his sixth year of Pharmacy School in Boston. He has a YouTube site with some of his performances at http://www.youtube.com/user/SaxInThaCity

Mary had a hoarse voice the day before, and couldn't even sing. Matt, the sax player, had three days to learn his music, in between studying for his career as a pharmacist in Boston. The guy with the drums was unable to come.

I particularly liked when the keyboard player, TE White, joined Mary at the microphone, and suggest they plan a duo at the microphone some day.

We are all pleased at this impromptu performance by these young people.

Mary says she is going to Italy to study music next year, and that should be quite exciting.

I arrived late, after planting my VA flower garden, and going to Wal-mart, but I was able to record most of the concert.

After the first song, I had the common sense to move in to the gazebo, as I am only using a FLIP HD 2nd generation camera on a small tripod, and am not a professional videographer, but do this as a hobby.

This time, as opposed to last Friday, I was able to sit between the camera and the wind, which eliminated the wind noise.

I left their voices on the end of the first set, giving their e mail addresses in to the camera, figuring they are young people, and might be interested in old friends getting in touch about old times or their fine music talents. And, if someone harasses them, there is always SPAM BLOCKER, or you can change your e mail address. Matt has e mailed me to correct his e mail address, which is SaxInThaCity@gmail.com

I think, in this case, I did the right thing in that regard. Karma = good intent & action
