Inspired by real events, FLIGHTS OF FANCY is a fish-out-of-water, coming-of-age drama with comedic overtones that tells the story of LALO, a young lad who overcomes many personal obstacles—including profound loneliness, culture shock, a language barrier, and a failed marriage—in order to grow into the man who can pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a doctor. Through it all, he remains the steadfast supporter of his family back home in El Salvador, putting his younger brother, Tony, through school. Today, that younger brother is Salvadoran ex-President Tony Saca (whose term in office ended last summer).
