"All the Way, written by Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Cahn in 1957, was recorded by Keely Smith in 1959 for her Capital album, Politely, with Billy May and his Orchestra. It is now available on the CDs, Keely Smith - The Best of The Capitol Years on EMI/Capitol, released in 1990, and Keely Smith: The Essential Capitol Collection, released in 2007. She recorded it again in 2001 for her tribute album, to Frank Sinatra, Keely Sings Sinatra.

  • The injun has a great set of pipes.....and a matching personality. I watched her on April 24 or 25 (whichever was Sunday) at the jazz tent during the 2010 New Orleans Jazz festival. She sang and kibitzed for an HOUR! It was wonderful. She has put on a bit of weight but actually looked pretty good. Had a lot of energy. She is scheduled to appear at the Cerritos center, Cerritos, Calif on Feb 13, 2011. Everybody in SoCal should go.....and watch musical history/magic being made.

  • @LittleJimmySouthern Thanks for telling me about her upcoming concert in Cerritos. I won't be able to pass it up.

  • is she black

  • @Adrian10325AR

No, she is Cherokee and Irish.

  • Did you hear her version of "i'll walk alone" By Dinah Shore

  • No I had not heard Dinah Shore's version. I noticed that the song was recorded a cappella. At that time (1944) there was a ban on all commercial recording by members of the American Federation of Musicians. Using vocal accompaniment allowed the record companies to get around the ban. Thanks for recommending it.
