Julia asks whether sexism still happens in the workplace. Are we now equal and should we move on from the subject? OR have things not really changed at all? Did they ever change? Would love to know your thoughts on the subject too...
nicely, especially talking bout the sexual comments point, Its a bore especially watching videos of girls/women doing covers of songs and you can bet one of the first comments you'll see is some to do with body fluids on some part of the body...
...Although saying that, I have got a lot of hassle off games too, because I'm a woman. I have been on games like Call of Duty and when I've been killing everyone, people say ERRR YOU'RE A GIRRRL! So stupid in my opinion. Thanks for the video Julia, managed to get a lot off my chest lol. Looking forward to seeing your other videos And sorry for my long essay, didn't realise it bothered me this much xD
Also don't like, for example booth babes get treated like a piece of meat. I used to be a model, so I know how it works. Just don't think there's need for booth babes, it's as if people don't think girl gamers exist. Finally (sorry for the essay) I don't like how girl gamers seem to think HA I beat a guy and then they give the guy a mouthful because she has beat him at the game. What's the point? There's no need to be treated differently. They are just showing themselves up being like that...
I think sexism is defintely improving. But there are some things that get me down. Just because I'm a woman, men don't think I'm stong enough... Also the 'blonde' issue doesn't help. I wanted to be a mechanic when I was at School. I got laughed at by so many people, and they was shocked when they saw how well I did at my work experience. I don't see how women should get treated differently. We're all the same...
But some times people will say that there is sexism or racism because they not getting what they want but in true they are the problem. Also it seems at times fine to be sexist or racist has long has you not white and male. People are complicated we are different, we are not stereo types. we are what we want to be and are chanced by our environment we grow in and live.
I told agree with you, the world is a weird place. women can give off very weird signs. Dress like a tart but want to be treated has a lady. But online people feel like they can say anything they want, like the boobs thing. just plan rude and unbelievable. I bet they would not say these things to your face the cowards. I still find things like equal pay has a weird thing that is not right. If you do the same work then you should be paid the same.
I think it depends, with a text comment its very hard to show sarcasm without the magic "LOL" devise.
I think that personally the difference between men and women in the workplace is being phased out, moneywise and socially androgyny will rule very soon.
Though if it happens with a fat, gassy, balding man saying to a bartender, or bar maid, something crude, crass, or whatever, to be honest its to be expected, and to be taken with a pinch of salt.
I stopped working full time in offices because despite feeling that I was being assertive I was told ( by men ) that I was being aggressive. Changing my employment role changed how people perceive my assertiveness. I am considered aggressive and direct and abrasive by quite a lot of men. Tell me, as a man if I feel I am being assertive and I am told by men that its aggressive how can I inform people that I feel that I am being assertive ? one more question ...
