On Sunday 13th December 2009, LMS Princess 4-6-2 number 6201 Princess Elizabeth worked the Railway Touring Company's York Yuletide Express from Liverpool Lime Street to York, via Manchester, Rochdale, Brighouse and Wakefield Kirgate. The charter was orginally supposed to feature LMS Jubilee 5690 Leander, but was substituted for Princess Elizabeth many weeks before.
We start with 'Lizzie' at Liverpool Lime Street just before the tour began, then we steam our way past a cold Edge Hill.
Having negociated Ordsall Lane Junction, 6201 makes it's twisting way towards Manchester Victoria; after the passenger pickup, she takes on Miles Platting bank, while crossing over to the Rochdale line. We pass Newton Heath depot en route.
At the end of a spirited run to York via Brighouse and Wakefield (Kirgate), 6201 rests at platform 10 at York station, before detaching and heading off to the National Railway Museum for servicing.
Later on after dark, West Coast Railway's 47826 brings in the Empty Coaching Stock from Holgate Sidings. 47826 also assisted on this charter, with Electric Train Heating.
Finally, having returned from the NRM, 6201 Princess Elizabeth passes and backs down onto the stock. We finish with a glimpse of the Holly wreath and 'York Yuletide Express' headboard.
A great way to round off 2009; thanks for your visits, ratings, comments and support throughout 2009. I hope to bring you more quality videos in 2010. Merry Christmas to you all!
Thanks to Woolybak8 for the company and laughs.
