When teaching breath control to toddlers under three, be sure to watch their face with each assist, and be ABSOLUTELY SURE they are getting their breath before submerging them again as shown in the video below. IF THE CHILD RESISTS, GETS TENSE, OR SPUTTERS-STOP IMMEDIATELY! Try again later or the next class. If they sputter once, the next submersion may be worse, and you don't want young children taking in a lot of water, not to mention you want to keep the experience a positive one. If you take your time, your students will love learning and they will learn the skill.
