Inspired by the mood of French New Wave films from the late 50s and early 60s such as Breathless, this months shoot with actress Jessica Alba was all about new beginnings. The star arrived on the set (a warehouse in Long Island City, New York) sporting a thick layer of freshly cut bangs, boyfriend jeans, and oxford lace-ups. Also in attendance were the new generation of power players making the New York fashion scene—Frank Tell, Jason Wu, Julian Louie, Rad Hourani, and Joseph Altuzarra—who posed for individual shots with Alba, who wore her favorite pieces from each designers collection. Next, the actress tried on stacks of diamond bracelets from Tiffany & Co. paired with a sky blue Grecian Versace one-shoulder dress and a flashy lamé number from Prada while reminiscing about the last time she did a cover for ELLE, when she was secretly pregnant and nervous someone would notice her tummy. What a difference a year makes.
