We built our mini earthship in 2001 in England. Its not really big enough to be called a real earthship and its not finished off properly, but its still a wonderful building. We call it our Earth-dinghy or Earth-tub ! It is loosely based on the earthship concept of Mike Reynolds.. the garbage warrior !

It stays surprisingly warm inside even in winter and never dips below freezing inside even when its below zero outside.. amazing considering there is only a polythene front. It is made from recycled materials, scrap car tyres and sycamore trees. The kids love it and call it the hobbit house.

Earthships are fairly easy to build by people with no building skills and considering the amount of scrap tyres there are in the world, earthships could be an answer to the huge global housing problems.

We also made the music that goes with this film.. A few people have asked about it so heres a link to where you can get it... The tune on this film is called 'Follow the sun' and is by Moksha;

Beautiful home, beautiful friends and family, life is just beautiful isnt it? if only more people caught on to the beauty of worry free iving.....

    Take care, BJorn

  • @spaceofwastesound nice one Bjorn ! sounds good ... all the best :-)

  • i know where you can build so many spaceships as you like , in the balkans the worlds best region for everything , i know them i´ve been grown up there , first you have europe arround you so if you need something from civilisation no prob. second the balkan ppl are heart ppl when you are open hearted and have respect they will offer you a very warm welcome ,they are very heartly ppl ( if you are there and someone offers you to eat with him or her never say no, this would be a big dissrespect)

  • What a beautiful earthship, love the interior plants up a natural wall!! It may be small but if it came down to it, the little hobbit house can definately give you warm shelter.

  • Who says hippies don't work hard?

  • @woadboy our earthship is basically a posh shed in a garden.. we dont live in it.. but use it as a hang out for us and the kids.

  • @woadboy good luck :)

  • @woadboy in bulgaria you will find regions whch are not even on a map,you should be motorised to move large distances but the rest is up to you the summer is very warm and the winter is cold but it is a winter with snow not rain and dirt,the animals are usualy no prob. they fear you more then you fear them . you can own your weapon there thats no problem take some AK´s best rifle ever it never fails and you are secure,not that something would happen but you are outside without anyone to help you
