Johnny Weir's opinion about Mao's 3A and how people under-appreciate it....like Brian Joubert's Quad (and in my opinion, Plushenko's Quad toe-Triple toe, also.)
I loved how Johnny talks about other skaters....regardless of ladies or men, he respect all the skaters and appreciate each characteristic and strength....(though he was completely biased to Ksenia Makarova throughout the ladie's competition...but I totally understand the great friendship with his training mate.)
And of course, Tara Lipinski!! She is just amazing and she really truly knows what Figure Skating is all about.

  • Let's make this clear.

M A N Y males has done quads in competitions before, but only TWO female figure skaters (Ito and Asada) had/has brought consistent triple axels in competitions. Some males can do quads at practices, but females can't make 3A even at practices. This is the reason why i think Vanc. Olym was bullshit when media made it look as if Mao's 3times of 3A was nothing compared to yuna's 3-3 jump. 3A were STUNNING. No question should been asked for this....

  • @archieanders Also, she's actually much better looking now...

  • The point is the difference of their jump quality

it's great for mao to jump 3A itself

but her jump quality is not good

so she cannot get GOE (grade 0f execution)

  • Only what your opinion of misinterpreting Johnny Weir statements of Mao's axel, in comparisons of her other jumps, the one she seems to being having trouble with, it is NOT due to 'cheating'. Falling on a jump is worse than having an under or over rotation, depending on the circumstances involved. Mao Asada is constantly hounded by bullies who have no other reason but to try and ruin Mao's dream.

  • @yi81 I agree! the BASE VALUE of a 3 axel should definitely worth much more than it is now. Perhaps much closer to the base value of the 3lutz-3t IMO. Many female skaters can perform 3lutz-3t with such consistency, while very very few can even attemp the 3axel in practice let alone competition. I understand that a certaint 3lutz-3t are performed with such quality, but leave that to the GOE! not the base value.

  • Yu na skated clean- end of story. A triple axel at the time was worth only 2.2 points more than a triple lutz. At the time of the 2010 OWG a 3 lutz 3 toe was woth 10 points base value, a 3 axel 2toe was worth 9.5 points at base value. With mao's mistakes, she lost GOE's that Kim gained, making her jumps worth less.

  • @archieanders That looks like Tara Lipinski, the 1998 OGM whose agent said was too "chicken" to compete at '98 Worlds (she deserted the US team and left the responsibility of securing 3 spots for the next competition all on MIchelle Kwan)) and retired, claiming she was injured, then signed up right away with SOI on a very busy skating schedule amidst her so-called "injury." (She did have surgery years later.)

  • Who's that ugly woman beside Weir?

  • what should be more estimated is that mao challenged 3A.

    I NEVER SEEN three 3A in a competition(female).

It's much more difficult than 3Lz-3T.

  • @yi81 Ok, let's make this clear, too.

Yuna's 3-3 jump is not just 3-3. It's "3Lz-3T" and really high quality. Who did make it at every competition, huh? I NEVER seen before.

I think second-3T should get more points than single 3T.
