How do we know you aren't forcing it in when you are gripping it... can you place it at the end of the tube and then slide the tube in without touching the magnet?
seems like you could make that tube curve down and come back around to the beginning, and on the bottom half of the tube you could put another magnetic gate to give it another push. would it then not keep going around in circles?
Resistance to pull took the place of push and in effect, energy in both cases had to be expended to position the projectile before it could be catapaulted by the magnetic field.
dude. use a ball magnet... buy some magnetic liquid from one of those rare earth companies. line a tube with it, line the ball with it (nearly zero friction), then arange it in a circular track, place multiple gates.... and there you go. should go on for a while if it reaches the second gate.
