Nohavica is probably the most popular Czech folk singer of eighties and nineties. His lyrics, reflecting the social discontent of crumbling Communist regime, became a part od national cultural heritage and are widely sung, as you can norice in this imprptu recording from his performance at the Czech Embassy in washington.

  • to velogustlik - I used to have good friends in Poland and I still admire some of Polish pride. We can talk and we can work together...I am positive about it

  • Thanks from Russia. This song is dedicated to our favourite poet and singer Vladimir Vysockij.

  • In late eighties, Nohavica translated and sung many songs by V.Vysockij. Vysockij was and still is popular among the middle aged generation.

  • @Dusan45 really? :)

We (Hungarians) also have a singer who translated Vysockij's poems. He is Földes László, also known as Hobo, leader of the Hobo Blues Band. But he is singing in completely different style.

Jaromír Nohavica is really great :)

    Pozdrav ;)
