My uncle had this single on a mix 8 track tape with Blue Moon and some others, fell in love with Sister Sledge ever since.

I was born in Zim '65 & grew up with my parents listening to this on 8 track !
Now my kids have just rowed at the Henley Regatta. Full Circle.

Seems like Kathy's voice didn't change much. I knew sister sledge had songs on the radio before 'we are family' days. When I first heard this song I didn't know who sang it. The melody stayed on my mind for years. After hearing 'he's the greatest dancer, I thought this song may have been sung by them. Love the extended version, I've played this 4 times straight!!!!!

thanks love this song its never played on radio yet so much better than there later stuff
I was 18 years old and at the Henley Regatta in UK when this was blasting out from a fairground. I saw the most beautiful girl there from Sweden and have always associated this song with falling in love for the first time!
Shortly after, I moved to Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and took the single with me. I gave it to a DJ in a local nightclub to play as it was not released there then, and it was so popular he played it three times that night.
Alas, I'm 54 now but still feel 18 when I hear it!

Thanks for posting this 1973 U.K. hit, We use the U.S. 7" & this Tom Moulton mix ('75) from Atlantic Disco-Trek compilation ('76). Check Love Don't Go Through No Changes on Me, All American Girls, (Tom Jones-Sex Bomb sample), & fave sampled by Jr. Jack '99 (My Feeling), from "We Are Family" LP, One More Time. Mama Never Told Me was one of those "underground" dance hits making '73 a great year w/ so many songs still relevant to today! DAVEDJ
