Where I grew up in South Philly the corner store always put the veggies on first. I prefer this method because it holds the lettuce, tomato and onion in the roll with no mess when you eat it. It also alows the roll to soak in the flavor of the dressing and oregano. I use a simple dressing made with red wine vinegar, olive oil and some Mrs. Dash for the seasoning. It works out real well.
