  • what flag is that on the tank????

  • It means the tank is loaded and ready to fire. It's just so the tower knows who's ready.

  • its not a tracer, it the round getting white hot from the air resistance.

  • Actually, it is a tracer. All tank rounds are tracers so that the crew and tower can get a sensing on where the round hit. That one was a HEAT training round. You can tell by how slow it was. A SABOT round would look like a laser because they travel much faster.

  • oh, neat. Thanks for the clarification

  • np. ;D

  • No, air resistance will NEVER make an illuminated projectile, no matter how fast its going, this was a tracer round, I love it when people obviously don't know what their talking about, so instead of asking "was that air resistance doing that or an actual tracer round" you tell people the wrong fact, then someone who doesn't know better will read ur BS and unknowingly spread it, good job Commando......

  • @DiogoE6 lol u thought it was chinese, viatnamese or soviet? coz i did XD

  • @Violative911

We are not talking about these "fast movers". We were talking about bird nests and equilabrators. And you are full of crap. I do not think you " in turn would shoot at" any fellow soldier. If you did, that would make you a terrible soldier. The fact that you would even say that means you are probably not that bright. Conversation over! You know know what an equilabrator is for. My work is done here. Go take your Ritalin!

  • @MrOpinionatedOne

Hello, that's my point, we both know that the equilibrator is for, but I am also stating that I would not enage a fast mover, if it's no threat to my track, I in turn would shoot at you if your tracks engages the non threat fast mover, if we both lived the attack, again I WOULD order your track shot! My point is DO NOT ENGAGE FAST MOVERS IF NOT UNDER ATTACK!!!! but if we are under attack by all means ENGAGE!! DO you understand now?

  • @MrOpinionatedOne Stating the current policy on engaging aircraft does not contradict the fact that the weapon elevates almost 75 degrees. This fact alone is made possible by the equiliabrator. If you are not supposed to engage aircraft (or birds nests :D ), why allow it do this? Less FM 17-12, more design theory! I am not arguing about the LOGIC of engaging aircraft, just the INTENT of the weapon mount. Quit being so aggro about it!

  • @Violative911 Blah blah blah... I thought we were talking about center of gravity and the equilibrator? According to your logic, cars cannot do more than 75 BECAUSE THEY AREN"T SUPPOSED to go faster than the speed limit! You just wasted a whole post talking about something I wasn't even arguing about. So... to avoid another autistic episode, I will amend my original statement to simplify it for you: "moves the center of gravity rearward so high angle targets such as BIRD NESTS can be engaged. "

  • @MrOpinionatedOne 1.Attack helicopters try to engage at extremely long ranges; therefore, target identification is difficult.

2.TARGET IDENTIFICATION IS VERY DIFFICULT ON FAST MOVERS.

3.MOST DANGEROUS:When the crew observes an enemy target with armor-defeating capabilities that appears to be preparing to engage them, the target is classified most dangerous. This type of target is the greatest threat and must be engaged immediately. it is wise not to shoot at areal targets if your not detected

  • @Violative911 100% huh? Let's see... Rule to not engage aircraft = ROE, moving the center of gravity back so the weapon hull will not bang the turret during elevation = design decision. Apples to oranges... (or semantics if you have a high ASVAB score) If you are are satisfied with your partial answer, that is fine. It does not mean that you are correct. If you think hard about it, you will know you are not. Look at the M2 on a tank, look at the pivot point when it is in the mount. You will see

  • @MrOpinionatedOne you said and then deleted.."@Violative911 mostly correct. It does that AND moves the center of gravity rearward so high angle targets such as aircraft can be effectively engaged without the weapon body hitting the turret roof.

The cockiness would be better if you actually were 100% correct!"

I say OK smart guy I want to see you effectively engage an aircraft!

The rule on this is to NOT engage one at all costs, this is why WE always need to own the skies!

    I am 100% correct
