  • The best American band EVER!

  • Man, Al in 1987 sounded nearly identical to the way he did in in 1965. Crazy.

  • @peterp21 His marriages and all that gossip is irrelevant to this discussion. I'm talking about how he shoehorned his retrograde ideas into the band and turned it from a well-respected band to a self-parody and a laughable nostalgia act. I'm talking about his throwing shit at everyone (remember his R&R Hall of Fame speech?). I'm talking about his sabotaging SMiLE and finally I'm talking about his milking the Beach Boys "franchise" despite the real Boys disbanding in 1998 when Carl died

  • @iowa61 Yeah. I picked up Al's Postcard From California album and for a guy pushing 70 he sounds great and not much different than in 1964. Good singer, nice guy who seems pretty content with his life (and why not, right?). Puts out an album for fun, has a bunch of friends on it, what a life man.

  • @begbieboy I get that blind Mike haters are unhinged and mostly incomprehensible (and pretty much refuted at this point, as David Leaf doesn't get to be sole gatekeeper of Beach Boys history anymore), but how exactly is Mike the most perverted man in American music history? Because he's abrasive? Because he's been married 5 or 6 times? Last I heard, Dennis was married 5x, once to his cousin (Mike's daughter - pretty fuckin' perverted!). If DW had lived, he might be on marriage #10.

  • It's pretty ironic that Mike acuses some ways of thinking as "perverted", being he, the most perverse man in America's music history

  • @onlinemonikers And... today!

  • @onlinemonikers you have to have good ears to do that you have to hear a note to reproduce it

  • @ebeatworld Man you are right. I had no idea until I discovered YouTube in the last few months, that Al Jardine was so excellent and that the Beach Boys (e.g., Carl) supported him so much with their musical abilities. This song was an awsome hit by a girl group in the 60s, but the Beach Boys equal it here.

  • @Jody07984 ok good :-) i understand what you mean! Sorry for that!! Keep playing the good music!!

  • @Dentann85 I didn't take it as an insult. No apologies necessary.I merely thought that the argument seemed a bit like a high school mentality and maybe you ARE in high school.I'm way past that age or mentality. You certainly have a right to an opinion,as do I.That's all it was.I expressed an opinion. It seemed like you were commenting as if we were in high school arguing about who was better.Your "WTF!!" seemed a bit too much.No problem. Love the music; play and share it often. The world needs it.
