Eddie Van Halen plays a lot faster than Brian May and is technically far better.
As for the music, there's no match between the two. Hearing Van Halen, I hear, almost, the same thing over and over.
Each solo of Brian May is unique and new... One is a good guitarist, the other is a genial artist...

Eddie has the best technic and he's by far better than May in tapping. But, Brian May is a genius and all his soli are just wonderful and full of feeling and emotion. No one can touch May, he's a god. And, May+Mercury cannot be compared to Halen+Roth... But I like both and I think that this kind of battle is quite useless and ridiculous, because you can love both...
