When taking a pulse you DO NOT use your thumb because you can get a FALSE reading.....

haha...wow...all those years in med school...and he can not really produce a good example of how to read a proper blood pressure reading...he has his "fancy special" blood pressure device...deflating at 2 mL of mercury...blah...blah..blah

I can still hear a heart beat all the way down to like 50 when I check my own BP but my machine that does it says I am right below 80... What am I doing wrong?

Lol.. Have you critical people even check blood pressure instead of reading about it. Yes you do not use your thumb when checking a PULSE. As far as checking a patient's blood pressure your thumb does not conflict with the reading (knowing from experience) u do not hear the pulse in ur thumb at all when holding the stethoscope to the patient's arm.
