WRITTEN BY NEIL SEDAKA. LYRICS: Tra la-la-la-la la-la-la-la
Happy birthday sweet sixteen
Tra la-la-la-la la-la-la-la
Happy birthday sweet sixteen

Tonight's the night I've waited for
Because you're not a baby anymore
You've turned into the prettiest girl I've ever seen
Happy birthday sweet sixteen

What happened to that funny face
My little tomboy now wears satin and lace
I can't believe my eyes you're just a teenage dream
Happy birthday sweet sixteen

When you were only six I was your big brother
Then when you were ten We didn't like each other
When you were thirteen You were my funny valentine
But since you've grown up Your future is sewn up
From now on you're gonna be mine, so

If I should smile with sweet surprise
It's just that you've grown up before my very eyes
You've turned into the prettiest girl I've ever seen
Happy birthday sweet sixteen

REPEAT LAST VERSE
Tra la-la-la-la la-la-la-la Happy birthday sweet sixteen
Tra la-la-la-la la-la-la-la Happy birthday sweet sixteen
FADE: Tra la-la-la-la la-la-la-la Happy birthday sweet sixteen

  • Never heard this version

  • I really like this track. It´s a kind of innocent and honest rock/pop-tune from the 60s. My hobby is to rediscover all those great bands from that period that didn´t "reach the highest level". It´s a fantastic musical treasure. Listen (youtube) for example to:

THE ZETTLERS and their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah".

Really f....g great with a bloody driving beat.

THE GOLLIWOGS and the tune "Tell me". Check up the singer...yes, it´s him!!!

  • I forgot they did this, very nice

  • Geeez I wish I was 16 again good times

  • This is a very very good cover, thanks for posting Thanks

  • One of the rarest and the greatest. I wish all the birthday songs are as jolly as this one. ~*V

  • nice sixties band
