Up until 2005 an ebook would have probably been a PDF (Portable Document Format) document or perhaps even a text file. Either way the content would be almost exclusively words and pictures.

With the widespread adoption of broadband connections to the internet, more and more people have the ability to download large files such as video in minutes.

Therefore EBooks have the potential to become like a website, but all contained in a document.
