@emilydelossantos1029 They won't eat them if you clean the cage. It's just a survival instinct.
If the mother feels like its life, or the lives of the newborns, is in danger it will kill and eat them for food and to prevent the feeding of predators.
Cleaning the cage or handling the newborns can trigger this instinct if the hamster (or any animal, really) doesn't completely trust you, which is why it's not recommended to do so unless absolutely necessary.

@tiNytuBBy1122 the cage isnt that dirty, its just the food the hamster eats and you cant clean the cage or the mom might eat the babys. and its not slipknots fault if a baby dies. they might not be moving yet bc the mother hasnt cleaned them so they can breath.:/

@emilydelossantos1029 because the babies will have to be handled to clean the age and then they will have a diffrent sent on them and they may think its not their babies my friend handled all the babies and the mother ate them all
Once the mother hamster is visibly pregnant you can't clean the cage until the babies are 14 days old or the mother may cannibalize or abandon the babies. The cage actually isn't that dirty. @slipknot5577 this is a great video thanks for sharing. I have videos of my baby hamsters too, they are Chinese Dwarf Hamsters.

This cage can't be cleen out or be touched untill the babies are 14 days or over the same thing as @mychem1022 said. Or the babies will killed by the mother. So to the other people you guys need to do some research on hamsters before you comment.
