Wang Junxia (China). She's holding the (somewhat controversy) Wold record female on 10KM, already since 1993.
In this vid some footage of her running in an also extremely fast 10Km race in Stuttgart. As she is in the last lap of this run (I can imagine) this has probably some influence on the running style as showed at that moment.
BTW; The info in the text in the vid is taken from Wikipedia and from a BBC interview in 2004)

  • She stopped running at 23 after winning Gold in 5k and Silver in 10k (1 sec deficit in the last lap kick) at 96's Olympic game in Atlanta, US. This is long after her broken-up with Ma and the aura of Ma's training magic has somehow collapsed along with more stringent drug test. To me she is respectable in any sense - not quite for a drug/scandal haunted record but more for the comeback win at Atlanta where none of her former teammates perform well.

  • @kadisake Thanks for sharing. I knew this, but it is good to mention some more of what came next to her brake up with Ma. She definitely deserves credits and respect ;-).

  • Wasn't she all juiced up on steroids when she set this record?

  • Thanks very much for posting this video. I like your observations of her form and style. There are some similarities with German Fernandez 2008-09.
