UofL's African American Theatre Program highlighted great black Kentuckians during its Commermoration Service to Martin Luther King, Jr on Monday, January 18t, 2010. Louisville student Elmer Lucille Allen was portrayed during the event by Lanisha Gholston. Other greats portrayed include: Stephen Bishop, Monk Estill, William Wells Brown, Effie Waller Smith, Todd Duncan, Moneta Sleet, Jr., Dr. Mary Britton, Murray Atkins Walls, Charles Anderson, Alice Dunnigan, Lyman T. Johnson, Mae Street Kidd, Georgia Montgomery Davis Powers, Isaac Murphy, Garret Morgan, Anna Mac Clark, Carl Brasheer and Muhammad Ali.
