  • so glad these two got together!!!

Tommy is under-rated, both as guitarist and his vocals are far better than he is creditted for..DeYoung, while a fab vocalist in hos own right, unfortunately over-shadowed Tommy's in Styx'..but Tommy can sing melody with anybody and sings his ass off!!!!!

    amazing...

    thanks for posting!!!

  • God, Tommy just nails that chorus, doesn't he?..he's so perfect.

  • this is so cool rock and roll at its best..

  • feeling oppositional

  • @GBeret83

You make an excellent point, but we can't forget about JY. That man can also sing his ass off. And I...dare I say it...prefer Gowan on vocals/keyboard. I realize he is not the songwriter DeYoung was, but he is a much better performer. Before you knock me for saying that--yes, I have seen both live. Gowan wins.

  • LOL ... Tommy plays some Hotel California on the solo...friggin awsome

  • Jack is a spectacular guitarist/bassist and frontman, and Tommy is the ultimate guitarist/singer/songwriter. Two of rock's all-time heavyweights.

  • @jmtims1, actually it's the solo for "Hotel California".

  • @misshair, much agreed. I like Dennis DeYoung and respect him as a vocalist. But the song's that he sang with Styx were much more "Pop" oriented. I've always thought Styx was at their best doing their "harder edged" song's that were sung by Tommy Shaw. I.E., Blue Collar Man, Renegade, Too Much Time On My Hands, and of course Crystal Ball. TJMO

  • On the solo, Shaw plays the Guns and Roses solo to "Patience"... no lie.

  • Oh I agree Tommy Shaw does rock the chorus! I love him! He's the best.
