udila aruna purava-bhage,
dvija-mani gora amani jage,
bhakata-samuha loiya sathe
gela nagara-braje (1)
Just before sunrise in the easter sky wich become
tinged with the redness, Gaurahari, the jewel of the
brahamanas, awoke He took His devotees with Him and
wanter through the towns and villages of Navadvipa.
tathai tathai´ bajala khola,
ghana ghana tahe jhajera rola,
preme dhala dhala sonara anga
carane nupura baje (2)
With the rythm of cymbals, the mrdangas
resounded "tathai, tathai" and Mahaprabhu´s golden form
shivered in ecstasy and His footbells jingled.
mukunda madhava yadava hari
bolena bolo re vadana bhori,
miche nida-base gela re rati,
divasa sarira-saje (3)
Mahaprabhu called out to the sleeping people "do
not waste your nights unelessly sleeping and your days
decorating the bodies. Chant the names Mukunda,
Madhava, Yadava and Hari. Fill your mouths with the
holy names of the Lord.
emana durlabha manava-deha,
paiya ki koro bhavana keha,
ebe na bhajile yasoda-suta,
carame padibe laje (4)
Human birth is a rare gift you have got.But you
do not care for this gift. If you do not worship the son of
mother Yasoda now, then great sorrow awaits you at the
time of death.
udita tapana haile asta,
dina gelo bali haibe vyasta,
tabe kena ebe alasa hoi'
na bhaja hrdaoja-raje (5)
With every rising and setting of the sun, a day passes
and is lost. Why are you still idle, refrainning from the
service of the Lord in their heart?
jivana anitya janaha sara
tahe nana-vidha vipada-bhara,
namasraya kari´ yatane tumi,
thakaha apana kaje (6)
You should understand the essence of this
temporary life wich is full of various miseries. take
refuge of the holy name carefully as your only avocation
and perform only the bare necessities requiered to mantain your life.
krsna-nama-sudha kariya pana,
judao bhakativinoda-prana,
nama vina kichu nahika ara,
caudda-bhuvana majhe (7)
Drink the nectar of the holy name, of Krsna and
thus satisfy the soul of Thakura Bhaktivinoda. There is
nothing but the Name to posses in the fourteen worlds.
jivera kalyana-sadhana-kama,
jagate asi e madhura nama,
avidya-timira-tapana-rupe,
hrd-gagane viraje (8)
The beautiful name of Krsna has arisen in this
universe like shining sun in the sky of heart in order to
remove the darkness of ignorance and bless all the souls.
