YUCK!
How can anyone do that to their horse?
That looks completley unnatural compared to their normal walk.
I hope those people get whats coming for them.!

@Aryyn1 much about horses as you're suggesting. Naturally, a horse trots, & when it gets to a certain speed it breaks into a gallop. Harness racing horses have to be trained to go from trotting to pacing without ever galloping using hobbles, that are tied between the legs.
Personally, I don't see any abuse in this video anymore than a work-horse that pulls lumber or a plow is being "abused." Unless they're being starved, whipped, hit or treated cruelly.

@Aryyn1 I never saw a horse in the "wild" (or let's just say, untrained) high step in place & then leap into the air & kick backward. Sure, they rear & buck, but not in the tightly controlled manner as lipazzans/Andalusians. However, I'm not arguing that it's "cruel" to teach horses to do that, so I'm not really sure what your point is, whether you're agreeing or disagreeing. o__O??
Trotters who pull sullies most certainly ARE trained specially to run like that! You must not know as

respectable trainers use methods similar to those used to teach the 'spanish walk'
these horses 'trot' in the back and 'walk' in the front which creates this stride. it's unfortunate that soring exists but it's very few horses that get treated this way so to say the entire sport is awful because of a few isolated trainers that do this is awful.

actually that stride is natural to them (just like the paso fino has a natural stride) but it has to be trained under saddle. They were bred for that stride. Bad trainers do this to cheat but these horses were bred as plantation animals and had to have ground eating strides that 'flashed' to keep people in line. No one wants to be infront of a horse walking that high - I know I wouldn't.
