The CD version of this song is available on DOUG DUFFEY: The Solo Sessions 1988-1992 Volume 2: Cabaret Vieux Carre- Available via CDBaby for purchase or digital download- http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/dougduffey2 - as well as iTunes Amazon, Rhapsody, and most online music outlets. THANK YOU for your support, which keeps me doing what I do!

Recorded live @ the Tricou House [711 Bourbon Street, New Orleans]where I worked for years. They had a closed-circuit video camera on the piano area so they could show the 'entertainment' on BIG tv upstairs- so, i'd often get the upstairs bartender to video my sets for me- for posterity [the eventual invention of youtube etc.] i told him to turn off the color, and shoot me in black and white... yet another good move.

oh yeah- the weird 'whoop' sound that goes on throughout the song is the 'foot pedal' on the piano!!!!!! [which got beat to death by at least 4 different pianists EVERY day!]

  • I disagree, I think the voice is great and the piano playing is good

  • thank you! (-;

  • That was so amazing I cant even find words for it! You're not the best singer in the world but gosh u know your piano! (and your "whoopy" pedals too for that matter)

I guess I just want to say:

    BRAVO!!!

  • thank you! glad you find it amazing... in retrospect it is amazing... that the piano even worked at all!

    doug

  • Really nice. I wish I had been there!

  • thanks! that was a special time in my life [working that club] unfortunately the club is now some "canned music" music joint; a real piece of new orleans musical history is gone. glad i had the insight to tape everything i did for a few days! [out of the YEARS i was there. duh! haha]- all the best/ doug

  • Great voice and piano playing - suits the song very well.

  • I had never heard this song before, where was I, now I dont like anyone else playing it. You and Van Cliburn are my most favorite players. thank you for the sounds.

  • Must Learn!

  • Tarnation... it's either you or Eric... and your playing is very old new orleans... you need a manager...

  • Who is this musician? I like this version, the way he plays piano and his voice.

i like how he sign. Who is he? Someone can answer me? Thanks

  • @DougDuffey totally agreed!

  • I dunno, it's not right without a guitar, to me. But great performance.

  • Great rendition ...thanks for this !!....much respect!!

  • That was outstanding!!!

  • This is probably the best rendition I've heard of the song. I like it better than the original, and the piano work here is excellent.
